It’s 2am. You’re half-asleep, staring at a dark blotch on the bathroom or hallway ceiling near a vent. Roof leak? Maybe. Or your AC drain is backing up — and the moisture has nowhere to go but into the drywall.
That stain is a late-night warning. The fix starts earlier than a mop and a paint can: airflow, filter size, and a plan so you’re not hunting a filter at midnight again.
What a ceiling stain has to do with your filter
Your air conditioner wrings humidity out of the air. That water should leave through the condensate drain. When the filter is overdue — or the wrong size — airflow drops. The system can ice, thaw, and overwhelm the drain. Algae and sludge make clogs worse. Water finds the path of least resistance: often a stain on the ceiling.
A correctly sized, on-schedule filter helps the coil and drain path stay healthier. Guessing the size (or “I’ll change it later”) is how small maintenance becomes a 2am ceiling problem.
Don’t guess — Find Your Size
Every furnace and air handler has a specific filter size. Too small and dirty air sneaks around the edges; the right size seats cleanly and protects the system.
Skip the aisle guessing game. Draynix’s Find Your Size quiz takes under a minute — model plate, old filter dimensions, or a quick measure — so you order the size that actually fits.
Then start a Filter Plan
Once you know your size, a Filter Plan keeps replacements on a schedule so the next stain never gets a head start. Want extra drain protection? Drain Protection Tablets are available as a paid add-on with Subscribe & Save — not free — so you only add them when they fit your setup and budget.
Size first. Plan second. Sleep through the night.
