Is MERV 8 good enough for home?
For most homes, yes. Under ASHRAE 52.2, MERV 8 captures at least 70% of 3–10 micron particles: dust, pollen, lint, and mold spores. It's the easy-airflow choice for older or tight systems. If you have pets or allergies, consider MERV 11.
Is MERV 8 good for allergies?

Does MERV 8 restrict airflow?
Very little when it's changed on time. Any filter restricts more as it loads with dirt, so the replacement schedule matters more than the rating. Change 1-inch filters every 1–3 months.
How often should I change a MERV 8 AC filter?
Every 1–3 months for a 1-inch filter, and monthly in heavy cooling season or with pets. The Filter Plan can ship monthly (20% off) or every 3 months (10% off).
